And we have been using doggie diapers recommended by the vet, so we know that it is safe.....its just that its 10:30 p.m. and we are out of the doggie diapers and desperate!

I don't see why not, they are made to alow air flow and stuff... Just cut out a tail hole and then maybe go and buy a pair of dog undies with the disposible pads or get her fixed.

I had a dog and a baby at the same time. It will work but be sure the one you cut the tail out for goes on the dog and not the baby. They do have special diapers for dogs in heat at your local pet store but we just used what we had. It worked well. Good luck.

This is a very cute idea and i have a lovely cartoon image in mind but I don't know how realistic it is. I do understand the reasoning behind it because they can get really messy on the furniture and carpeting etc but I really don't know that they'd leave it on. I also really think it's important for the dog to continuously clean this part of herself during this moment to avoid infection etc. So I probably wouldn't recommend it. Can I recommend leaving her to a confined room like laundry bathroom kitchen etc until she's finished or perhaps introduce her to a crate. These can be great for the dog as it gives her some space while still being in the same room as you.

i would think so if you just cut a whole for her tale. it is easier to just get her fixed unless you are going to bread her though. my beagle went into heat once before she was fixed and i bought the little doggie maxi pads and little pants to stick them in which worked fine. the problem was that you have to take them off for her to go pee and quite a few times she went the bathroom in the dumb thing. baby diapers would probably work better and be cheaper than what they sell for dogs

A dog in heat needs special care, care that baby diapers won't duplicate. Please call your vet and ask to schedule a spay date so that you don't have to go through this again. : )

Why not just keep the dog in heat inside the house and away form other dogs. Or mate her up with the same breed of dog, if you want puppies or have her fixed if you don't.
