My personal experience, I was 80 pounds overweight I tried the atkins diet and I did not like it. So what I did I started to watch my eating habits for one, I have a journal where I write down what I intake daily. Make sure you write down the calories, carbs, fat and etc..try to maintain a 2000 calorie diet. Then, I started walking everyday 30 min then my body ask for more so I increased it to 45 min. I lost 35 pounds in three months. Just watch what you eat and do physical work.

State the situation and your needs to your trusted doctor; be open to any suggestions that he/she may have. A diet which has helped me, personally, is Vegetarianism; I do not know if you have tried this diet/lifestyle, or how you feel about it, but it may be worth considering. My best advice is to trust what you feel, and only what you feel is true and right for you. I wish you much success with whatever you decide to do! I applaud you for your honest question!

Check out the library link at www.hufa.org for the books there. Some contain diets that are effective. The safest in my opinion are "Protein Power" and "Zone" diets. They have helped me.
