Hi there...another opportunity which many people don't realize that is available is becoming a feline behaviourist/trainer. We have background in animal psychology/biology. Essentially, we are therapist for finding solutions to cat problems such as aggression-anxiety, inappropriate house soiling problems, etc. We work with vets, shelters, rescues and private families.

If you aren't interested in any type of veterinary medicine, then how about boarding cats? Or you could work at your local shelter. Unfortunately, even those choices will cause you to become attached. I have been fostering cats and it was very difficult at first to let them go, but I have learned to adjust. Volunteering at your local shelter might give you the answer to whether you can handle working with them. You might find out that you really could do veterinary medicine.

ok how about a vet tech?? I guess working at the SPCA is out too but that would be my suggestion to anyone who truely LOVES animals
a pet store would be bad since firstly you are really working in sales - not with cats.. and secondly you are exploiting them for profit rather than helping them..
cat groomer?? serious they are needed in larger centers because few dog groomers will do cats...

what about becoming a pet sitter (specialize in taking care of cats) and take care of pets while people are away on vacation.
If you want to work with wild cats, work in a zoo or wildlife rehab, or work with wild cats in nature as a biologist. You would need a degree to work as a biologist or as a zookeeper.
