Hi, I am trying to lose weight as so many people are and i have made a workout/eating plan that i want to stick to for about 2 weeks to really jumpstart my diet.
My food menu for the day is tea and a granola bar in the morning which comes out to about 140 calories. Lunch consists of 1 of 3 items...it is either tuna, chicken, or a protein supplement and basically dinner is 1 of those same 3 items and i add pretzels or some sort of carb to those high protein meals. I also understand how important fiber is in a healthy diet but cant stand veggies so i include benefiber in my food/drink 3 times daily.
I am basically consuming about 600 calories but a pretty balanced 600. My workout routine consists of about an hour and a half...30 minutes are cardio and the rest of the time is spent on lifting weights at very high reps to keep building muscle. I know the importance of muscle relating to metabolism and that is why i spend so much time on the weights. I drink tons of water and tea.

you absolutely are not on a balanced diet if you aren't including fruits, vegetables and dairy.
You need to add at least 200 - 250 calories and even that is pretty skimpy.
please consider a more healthy lifestyle

You should definitly eat more or you will end up gaining all your weight back and way more.

Losing weight first starts with being happy with yourself and loving *YOU* on the inside. Try everyday to smile and laugh, LAUGHING is supser helpful. It seems weird but it does! =) Try to follow a 1600 calorie diet.
It's best to have 5 meals a day that way you need get to hungry because that leads to over eating.
Here is a couple ideas to help you ge started:
Breakfast:
Oatmeal and a piece of wheat toast w/ 2tsp. trans free margarine. -OR- Strawberry Banana Smoothie (In a blender process until smooth, 1 small banana, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup fat free milk, 1/2 cup low fat plain yogurt, 2 tsp. honey, and 1 or 2 ice3 cubes. You can have your smoothie with 1 or 2 pieces of whole wheat toast. -OR- An egg on a piece of wheat toast with salsa (make 2 servings) ---If you are still huingry at breakfast have a small piece of fruit.
Lunch:
1 cup soup (water based not cream base) and a Cheese and Tomato Sandwich: 2 slices whole wheat bread, 2 slices reduced fat cheese, mustard and sliced tomato. -OR_ instead of the tomato sandwich 2 pieces whole wheat with 2 slices of Turkey and Mustard. -OR- A Lean Cuisine Frozen Meal (These are actually very tasty. The meat is delicious.
Dinner: 1 piece Chicken Breast with 2 side dishes: 1 cup steamed veggies, 1 sweet potato, 3/4 cup corn, 3/4 cup butternut squash, etc.
Dessert:
Light Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt:
3/4 cup with no more than 110 calories per 1/2 cup topped with tablespoon chocalate syrup.
Snacks:
Steamed Veggies, fruit, any nuts (these are great protein),
my personal favorite snack is Light and Fit 60 calorie yogurt cup with a 100 calorie Granola Bar. (I cruch up the Granola Bar and put it inside of my yogurt.)
Also there are alot of great ideas if you go to fast food for example....

You can have any of the under 6 grams of fat sandwiches! They're delicious just No MAyo. My favorite is Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki. I like to get a foot long and have a 6' for lunch and a 6' for dinner.

Also make sure you do 30 minutes of excercise 5 days a week. I like to walk to the store and back instead of drive =)

This was just some ideas to help you on your way.

Also its great to drink one glass of water before eating. Water is very important!

GOOD LUCK!!!

I started with that 600 calorie diet in the begging too. I lost 15 pounds in about 2 months :) but as soon as the 2 months were over I realized I got awfully hungry more often then I used to. I gained about 5 pounds in less then a week and I knew I had to change my diet. I now eat 1200 a day. You should too. You might think it s way too much but in fact it s very effective when it comes to aiming to lose wieght.

Okay, 600 is too low...you will lose weight for a while but then your body will get used to that few calories...fact is you will be heavier than you were before and it will be harder to lose any in the future...

You arent going to build any muscle at all on 600 calories either, so I dont know why you think that. My buddy who is a trainer gave me crap cos I was not eating after lifting...he said at the very least 20g of protein but 40g was better after a workout...no protein, no muscle, and in fact your body will start to canibalize all the muscle you stupidly think you are gaining. the only thing you have going good here is the water and tea, other than that I have no idea who gave you the idea that that diet was good, even for two days!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but 600 calories in a day with the workout regime that you have planned is a disaster waiting to happen...The average adult female needs to consume at the very least 1200 + calories a day. What you are doing essentially is passively starving your body. And the fact that you are taking in benefibre to replace your vegetables is going to do nothing but cause diarrhea. I like the idea of tuna or chicken for protein, but not a supplement...supplements are used in persons who are extreme sports fanatics that are still consuming vast quantities of protein already hence the word 'supplement'...and not replacement. Tea can be fine as long as they are low in caffeine...but be careful of herbal remedies, especially with the supplements...they can actually cause side effects that could send you to your doctor or emergency room.

With the workout that you have planned try this.....Breakfast ...very small bowl of dry cereal with skimmed milk, some type of fruit...at least one serving size....have your granola bar in between breakfast and lunch....Lunch...all grain bread, tuna or chicken with mustard or low fat mayo and eat another serving of fruit.....eat another healthy snack between lunch and supper...for supper eat tuna or chicken or better still fish with a healthy side dish. and a piece of fruit.....

I know your thinking this is a lot of food...but concider this...you are trying to boost your matabolism...and this diet plus exercise will keep you healthy and improve your ability to lose weight...don't believe me ask your doctor. Your method will cause some weight lose...but in the end you will become ill...perhaps start passing out...and because your metabolism is drastically slow now..you will gain back the weight or become anorexic. I hope I have been of some help...please look up your food guide in your area...or make an apointment with a local nutrisionist.

sounds like u may be overdoing it. u may be putting a strain on ur oragans ur heart may start skippin beats if u dont eat enough. make sure u work out before breakfast to burn the most fat. after eat some carbs and protein. the rest of the day eat some fruts veggs and unrefined foods every 3 hours. this will keep ur metabolism up and u may burn more fat than u are now. eat 5-6 times a day trust me it will work. 400 after work out. 150-200 every other meal.

Unless you're a very small person, then 600 calories is not enough. You will have a hard time losing weight because you're starving yourself and your body will hold on to any food it consumes. Try doubling that amount. Eat 1200 calories, of healthy food. Keep up your workout routine. You might lose weight quickly with your current routine, but you'll be SURE to gain it and then some back if you start eating more than you are.

your diet is a little extreme even to as a jump start. I it is not recommended that anyone eat less than 1000 calories without a doctor's supervision.
You can also slow down you metabolism because the body goes into survival mode.

Your having a little over one fourth of the calories you need. In other words it is the equivalent of someone eating only a small to medium
breakfast everyday. Nothing else. If you start passing out for no reason you should probably start eating more. Actually dont wait for that, just start eating more.
