I'd take a driving trip across the country as far as that would take me. I'd make sure to plan the route in a circle so I wouldn't see the same thing twice. This way I can see lots of things and have tons of neat memories to share with my husband instead of just one locale. Where you live will determine what you get to see. It would take careful planning, but it would work.

For instance I live in OKC so I would head west. Maybe drive up through the rockies. Spend a night in Vegas (staying outside the strip to save money. Walk down Rodeo drive in LA. Swing by Carlsbad Caverns and the Grand Canyon, snap some great pics and head home. You wouldn't be able to stay in the classiest of places but you'd have seen so much stuff. Plan your lunches as picnics (you can buy picnic food at local grocery stores.) Hit a few nice restaraunts for dinner. Experience a good-ole fashioned truck stop cafe (do your research prior to making the journey on the safety of the ones along your route). I would totally love that. Depending on how long you want to be gone and how far you can make your money stretch (remember you have to pay for gas) you might even rent a car to protect yourself from breakdowns. And you and your new hubby have plenty of time to chat and recall your wedding and celebrate your marriage in the car.

Well, that depends on where you're starting from! We had a wedding in Utah followed by a ring ceremony and reception in Michigan. From there we stayed at a nearby B&B, then drove 5 hours North across the Mackinac bridge and took a ferry to a small place called Mackinac Island - that's where they filmed the movie "Somewhere in Time." No motorized personal vehicles are allowed on the island so if you call a taxi, the horse & carriage show up to get you! It's a fantastic place with lots to do and we probably spent about $500 in 3 days and 2 nights there.

The moral of the story: go to your nearest chamber of commerce or even truck stop and buy some booklets on what is around you within YOUR reasonable driving distance. If you have $2000 don't waste half of it on airfare! Drive where you're going, stay at a B&B and have fun! Take a camera and get some beautiful photographs of the sites you see. Have passers-by photograph you together. Research what you want to do ahead of time and have somewhat of a plan but don't schedule your every minute. $2000 is plenty to have a really fun and wonderful honeymoon if you plan it well! GOOD LUCK!

If I could do it over again-I would go on a cruise. You can get them for fairly decent price and you have already paid for all your food and boarding. Plus, it's a relaxing way to travel and you have a chance to see places like Mexico, The Caribbean, or Alaska. You can get great deals too if you search the net. I would bet you could get a cruise or $1000 for 2 (depends on what sort of room you book), and have money left over for souveniers and airline tickets.

My husband and I just talked and agreed that Napa Valley is the happiest place on earth. You have to like wine or it's kind of pointless to go there.

I would go on a cruise. My fiance likes to feel like we are the only ones there (wherever we are). I think that a cruise would be our bet visiting some exotic locations.
