from memory I think appx 8-9 hours depending on headwinds from Heathrow to Miami, may vary from different departure/destination airports - will be quicker going home

First they going to stick a sensor up on your *** to make sure you don't have anything to take down skyscrapers in the US. It may take a while...
After that it is quite fast, 9 hours or so. Get some good books, magazines and your iPod.

A perfect route should take around seven hours only, but you cannot guarantee that over such a distance. So typically it takes about nine hours.
