21 and when there's just one its called a "die" as in "the die is cast". This is easy to figure out if you remember that the numbers on opposite sides always add up to 7... six sides, two of which add up to 7 three times = 21 dots.

Add all 6 sides which is 6+5+4+3+2+1=21 and that is your answer.
