why does this happen? not only have the downloads stopped, and the limewire window is blank, but the window wont close. the task manager registers normal activity, but the only way to shut down limewire is through the manager. i am using limewire pro (but i didnt buy it so they wont help me).
any suggestions welcome...

Check the prefferencees, I seen on it somewhere that it acimatly shuts off when files are done downloading, also if you have a screen saver then it prob. diables your internet when it goes into sceen save mode. So don't let the internet connection be killed whenever it goes into screen saver mode.
if none works run some anti-virese checks

limewire=virus+popupadds+worms+Trojans. If you did not buy this potential nightmare of a program then take out the pluses and square each computer problem and then square it again. You have no ideal how many computers I have repaired because of programs like limwire. Trash limewire, then buy or borrow your own CD's download them into your computers hard drive and your troubles will go away. However you will not do that as people today are hooked on downloading music through programs like limewire and I do not get why for all the trouble it can cause your computer.

Limewire stops responding. Your may need to un-install Limewire. I would suggest trying the Free version for a while, if it is stable overnight, then you can try the Pro version again.
Your computer can also have amounts of file/registry corruption causing your programs to hang.

have u scanned ur pc for viruses and worms and how much memory do u have left and how much music do u actually have on there and wut kind of antivirus r u using IF U R USING NORTON OR MCAFFEE GO TO DOWNLOADS.COM AND GET AVG FREE AND ADAWARE SE AND UNINSTALL UR OTHER ANTIVIRUS FIRST AND THEN INSTALL THESE AND SCAN UR COMPUTER WITH THESE EVERYNIGHT B4 U GO TO BED AND REMOVE THE VIRUSES AND THE QUARENTIENED ONES TOO. IF THAT DONT HELP HELL IDK BUT SOUNDS LIKE EITHER NOT ENUF MEMORY TO RUN RITE OR A TROJAN OR SUMTHIN N MAKE SURE U UPDATE IT EVERYDAY SO THE VIRUSE DICTIONARY IS CURRENT
