I am not Jewish-neither by blood or faith.
So I am not bound by Jewish law-period.
However, I am bound by what God reveals to ME.
Jesus gave 2 commands--love God with your heart mind and soul and love each other.
I keep those commands.
I believe the Bible is a GUIDE but not the unchangable "WORD of GOD". Too many mortal fallible men have changed and manipulated the scriptures over the last 2,000 years. For example the scripture condemned women to silent docile domination by men.(1 Cor. 14:34-35) The scripture was written in a very different culture and time than our own.
but to answer your question with scripture....
Acts 15:19-20
"It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood."
1 Corinthians 7:8-9
"Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. BUT IF THEY CANNOT CONTROL THEMSELVES, THEY SHOULD MARRY, FOR IT IS BETTER TO MARRY THAN TO BURN WITH PASSION."
Luke 12:56b-57
"How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time? Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right"
John 7:24
"Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment."
Romans 4:13-15
"It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring recieved the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. For if those who live by the law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no trangression."
Luke 11:52
"Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who are entering."
Luke 18:26-27
"Those who heard this asked, 'WHO THEN CAN BE SAVED?'
Jesus replied, 'What is IMPOSSILBE WITH MEN IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD.' "
Acts 13:38-39
"Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. THROUGH HIM EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IS JUSTIFIED FROM EVERYTHING YOU COULD NOT BE JUSTIFIED FROM BY THE LAW OF MOSES."
Jesus associated with the lowest of the low for His time-loose women tax collectors etc. He preached forgivenness and that we should not judge--that is God's job.
We each need to concern ourselves with our own personal relationship with God-instead of some one else's.
I support EVERYONE'S right to walk with God-straight or not.
What someone of faith does in their bedroom with their life partner is between them and God. It does not concern me or anyone else.
just my opinion.

>>>Homosexuality- Is it a sin?>>>
Homosexual conduct is. A homosexual orientation is morally neutral.
>>>For example, how do we justify the fact that "abomination" is also used to describe anyone who wears clothes made of two different materials?>>>
First of all, "abomination" never describes a person in the Bible -- it only describes certain behaviors.
Second, there are New Testament teachings which supercede the Old Testament teachings on issues such as clothes.
But it doesn't work that way with homosexuality. The OT condemns it, and so does the NT. No NT teachings supercede the OT teachings on homosexuality, as they do with issues such as clothes.
>>>Or that God never once condemns Solomon for his polygamous lifestyle, instead calling him the wisest man who ever lived?>>>
Solomon's polygamous lifestyle did not involve homosexual conduct.
Besides, his being the "wisest man who ever lived" doesn't mean that he was perfect. It doesn't mean he was without sin.
I firmly believe that Ronald Reagan was the greatest U.S. president ever -- certainly the best one in my lifetime, anyway. But that doesn't mean he didn't make mistakes. That doesn't mean I think he was perfect.
Similar thoughts could also pertain to Solomon. Besides, polygamy in Solomon's time and culture was not considered "unwise" -- it was part of their culture.

Well in today's lifestyle, we cant see it as a sin, it's just a personal choice or orientation, and those people arent bad people just for being like that, and we shouldnt condemn them. But according to God, or at least what the Bible says, or what we think it says, it would be a sin. So, for those who follows the Bible strictly it could be really confusing. Therefore, we should read it and follow it but we also should place our feet on Earth and do what we feel is right.

There is a difference between purely Jewish law and universal law in the OT. Some of the laws were destined to be characteristic of Jews only and some are universal. (True for all people all time) It doesnt exactly take a Bible scholar to see the differences. Of what we read in the NT, ALL sexual sin is STILL forbidden. That is stated so many times in the NT I fail to see how there is still any debate today over it. Actually I do see, because a number of people are trying to justify their unGodly lifestyles by knowlingly confusing and clouding the Scriptures.
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. -1 Corinthians 6:10

These verses should sum it for you:
Rom 1:26 Because of this, God gave them up to dishonorable passions, for even their females changed the natural use to that contrary to nature.
Rom 1:27 And likewise, the males also forsaking the natural use of the female burned in their lust toward one another, males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving back within themselves the reward which was fitting for their error.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,
If you have a Bible it would be helpful for you to read the entire first chapter of Romans. Have a great day!

Have you ever known of a religious person who MINDS THEIR OWN BUSINESS. Their holy words, which "supposedly" come from a "superior" entity say one thing, but the actions they carry out in the REAL world always contradict the ways they ACT. Religion per say is no different than all tyrants who went around making their "own" rules to judge mankind and MURDER those who didn't fit their ways of thinking. Read history and you will find one very interesting FACT. Empires which went around CONQUERING peoples THEN a NEW religion pops out of the woodwork CREATED by the conquering peoples to subjugate the masses. It happened after the fall of the Egyptian dynasties, then again after the Persians invaded many areas, when the Greeks did the same, then the Romans, then the Arabs (Muslims) and so on and so forth. RELIGION is a creation of a long line of HITLER mentalities YET people are so GULLIBLE as to think they are GIVEN by some intelligent entity which CARES for them. For those who don't bother to study history, go around as JESUS said. BLIND AND DEAF. These are the extreme of the LEAST intelligent who don't care to make the efforts for their own DESTINIES.....

What is SIN? Who gets to say what it is today?
Homosexuality is a mind set created by people who view 2 same sex persons as a SEXUAL thing. This is not what I believe.
We Native American's believe in "two-spirited" persons and knowing that all peoples are created by ONE entity (GOD,CREATOR, YAWYEH, JEHOVAH, ETC.), 2 spirited have a special place in the community as healers, teachers, & caregivers.
You being a devout Christian should know (in your mind, heart, spirit, soul, & body) that HE/SHE/IT loves you just the way you are...........and that's all that should matter.

You've discovered that Scripture is not the inerrant word of God, haven't ya? No, homosexuality is not a sin, because it is not a choice. One is born gay. It really is that simple. And if you believe in a God and that being gay is sinful, you're stuck explaining why God would create homosexual people.

It's easier just to give up on the concept of sin altogether. When you encounter something that seems iffy to you, think 'does it hurt anyone?' If the answer is no, don't worry about it. Homosexuality hurts no one.
And don't even bother mentioning pedophiles, because there is no evidence that homosexual people are more likely to be pedophiles than heterosexual people.
