Because if the US can't come up with more energy efficient technology, it would have to cut back on the use of fossil fuels (coal, oil, etc.). And if the US cuts back on oil, a bunch of already rich oil men from Texas wouldn't make as much $$$$$.

Plain and simple!

But the US is the dominant "World Power" though so it doesn't have to do anything it doesn't want to, does it. It doesn't even want to obey international law, trade agreements, and it is always interfering with foreign economies for its own exploitation.

I help President Bush one hundred% for ignoring the Kyoto treaty. Stephen Harpet, the great minister of Canada has observed Bush because they both keep in mind that this treaty is unrealistic. Kyoto is yet another attempt through worry mongering environmental followers to make absolutely everyone do what they want. progression and technological develop has its value, clone of each and everything else in life. To imagine that we may be able to progression without no effect on the ambience is stupid and naive. If those eco-friendly morons are so environmentally wakeful why do not they stop telling absolutely everyone else what to do and lead through party? bypass to stay in caves and prevent utilizing electricity.

It will cost money for businesses to retool or close factories to decrease the amount of pollution. This will put them at a disadvantage, especially versus businesses in countries such as China and India that would be exempt from the protocol.
