Its hard for me to understand how the bible is holy when it was written and put together by men. We can take example of our church today and see how sometimes these people are not performing the will of god but their own selfish interests. What makes people from their era so much different than ours? If anything I would think they would be more corrupt because they do not have the cynicism they have today. We can say it was inspired from God but where is the proof?

To the comments that says "they were inspired by god..it says it in the bible." If I wrote a book and said everything I wrote was inspired by God would you believe me?

By the way I am agnostic not atheist, and am trying to understand christianity, not debunk it.

If you're truly trying to understand Christianity, which I'll take your word for it that you are, I will suggest two non-Bible books: "Mere Christianity" by C. S. Lewis, and Josh McDowell's "The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict." If you really want to know, these books, in combination with prayer and the Bible, will help you to understand. You're not going to find your answers on Yahoo.

although some coach a everyday god, Allah isn't an similar God as contained in the Torah or the Bible. i recognize that many rigidity the concept of co-existance it really is high-quality, yet to attempt to assert that all religions are an similar could have eternal consequences. The Qur'ran replaced into penned some 650 years after the shortcoming of existence of Christ and the Muslim faith did not attain popularity for yet another 6-800 years. The Jewish faith is the pre-cursor to the Christian faith. The Christians believing that the Messiah, Jesus, has already arrived, conquer and could go back again. The Jews worship an similar God, yet like the Muslims, do not settle for Jesus because the promised messiah . the position the issue lies is in which you ascribe to. If Jesus is the reality, which i trust, then he's the purely street to heaven. If the Jews are good, we are nonetheless waiting and doubtlessly risking our eternity on their idea. truth isn't man made, that is got here upon, so do your homework, and count number on whichever you locate to be truth. As for why men are not perfect? Do you really know any perfect human beings? I have not met any. Those who spread the gospel are often under attack by Satan and his imps and sadly, some do fall. If you are a Christian you can pray for all of His children.

If the men who put the Bible together were Holy, wouldn't the result of the combined efforts be Holy as well? Maybe they used a Ouija Board to talk to God?

The book of the Bible itself is nothing but paper and ink like any other book; I don't think God will be mad if you put a crease in one of the pages. The Muslims, however, have strict rules how to care for the Qur'an, such as placing it high in the room, never setting it on the floor, never putting a book on top of it, etc.

They were inspired by God. The Holy Spirit speaks to all of us. You just have to listen...

Additional details

Of course not. The Bible REQUIRES that we believe in faith. That means without proof. You might say, "Well isn't that mighty convenient?" But God has made a change in my life because I chose to believe Him and His Word.

We don't have to KNOW anything, per se. How could we? Which religion KNOWS and can PROVE their beliefs are true? So if you're waiting to know the truth before you worship, you'll be waiting forever. Your choice.
