I do intense cardio 3-4 times a week for 1.30 hours, eat really healthy and have been a size 2-4 for quite some time. after the sudden loss of my father, ive noticed my stomach to buldge more then normal and my pants are feeling a little tigher. is this caused by the stress??? and if so, when will it decrease and what can i do? i started taking hoodia again to decrease my appetite, although i dont eat much to begin with. im just sick of having this buldge! and sometimes, i dont even want to eat because im so sick of the way i look, especially my stomach. please help. seriously answers only.

Stress definitely has a lot to do with the amount you bloat up. Certain people have different reactions to stress, and yours may be through bloating. I don't think it's so much a sudden gain in fat necessarily as it is extreme stress causing you to retain water. I break out in tremendous acne, for instance. I would not recommend taking any kind of appetite suppressers; if you are really working out as often as you are for as long as you are, then your body needs that food and it is not at all a good idea to try to suppress it. Instead of burning fat, you'll end up burning muscle, and that's something you don't want to do. I'm sorry for the loss of your father, that is so difficult.

I went through a divorce, 2 moves, and started graduate school with no job and a 3 year old. I also was pretty small and in the last year I gained weight in my belly. Not a lot, but enough so that my higher-wasted pants are tight. I know that the body's stress hormones, like cortisol, are somehow connected to how we process food and can affect insulin levels, blood sugar, conversion of food to fat, maybe water retention, that sort of thing. In short, I'm guessing stress can do it.

Go easy on yourself, and try not to stress about your belly weight too much. Remember, you've been through a lot and it may take your body awhile to re-normalize.

when we are depress we eat without think and this is causeing your fat problem. go for a walk and do your think away from food and your stress level should go down and so will the fat. I am sorry about your father. But try to get some fresh air.

Stress is a HUGE factor in weight gain and weight loss (as per bulimia and anorexia).

You can't do anything about your father, but learn to deal with it. I can tell you that it gets easier with time, but only a little. I lost my father over 7 years ago and I still grieve. However, I don't let that grief control me, I honor his death.

Talk out your problems with someone you trust. Keep up with the exercise and add some relaxation exercises; yoga, meditation, listening to soothing music. Do all that you can to help reduce the stress and make it more manageable.

Tell yourself that you are doing the best you can and not worry about the extra weight; that worry is increasing your stress. Accept yourself for who you are and how you look. As we age well all start to get older and gain that stomach bulge. To get rid of the stomach budge, you have to accept it first. Once you worry less about it, once it matters less, then it won't be such a problem.

If you are not careful then you are going to seriously damage yourself and take the road that people like Nichole Richie and Karen Carpenter have followed. The more you obsess about your weight the worse it gets.

Look at how a person loses weight. As we reduce out calorie intake, and increase our calorie output then our body starts to panic and tries to put on more weight. This is why dieters lose so little weight loss at first. Their own body is working against them. Once you past this point when the body gets used to the lower calorie level and the weight remains off, but by that point the dieter is still trying to lose weight. The body gets alarmed again so it starts trying to pack on the weight. You have to learn to live with your own body and accept its cycles and operations.

You are doing what you can to solve the problem, if you do too much more then you will only hurt yourself, so live with it, accept it and that acceptance will make it easier to lose the weight and accept it when a little comes back, as someday it will. In the meantime if you just keep doing the exercises, eating right, and not eating too much then the weight will come off. However, once a fat cell is created it cannot be uncreated, it will always look for more fat to fill it. Back when man didn’t know what fire was this was a good plan for our bodies. But, once we invented fire and started to change the environment to suit us, we stopped evolving. Now scientists, geneticists, are working on turning that gene off, but until they do we have to live with it.

well weight is a simple issue...it is just the balance of the calories (energy) that we spend versus what we gain from food...gain occurs only if we get more calories than we are expending...look into your life style and see what you are really consuming in terms of calories and how much you are using up...stress cannot just cause weight gain unless stress is leading to decreased physical activity or increased calorie consumption...see what is wrong and all will be well

I'm sorry about the loss of your father. Maybe you are feeling vulnerable and your body is creating this to protect you. Lots of emotions centered in that area.
