that is a very good question. I don't get along with my mother in law. But i have NEVER made him choose, because i think it is wrong.
quite frankly, it depends on the situation. Unfortunatly, if he agrees with the wife, his mom will be hurt, but if he agrees with his mom, he will be sleeping on the couch........ I say, plead the fifth on these arguments

Whichever one has the financial need. If your wife is earning her own way, there's no need to support her. If your mom has a sizable bank account, there's no need to support her.
