Do you have the original? I thought that stock items, that are original to the car, were better for the value of the car? I suppose it depends upon your market: maybe the black top is more visually appealing and will sell to those that are looking for that "look". Or, maybe the purists would consider the after-market quality of the black top to not have the "classic" quality that they seek in a 20 year old Mustang.

In my Mustang, I definitely received more approval from the collectors when I told them that everything was original. The engine was slow, though, and when the racer-types heard that I didn't drop in a faster engine they would guffaw. I never won a race!

86 5.0's had the strange heads and no valve releifs interior the pistons. On the two motor vehicle, 3.fifty 5 gears could make a extensive distinction. The eighty 5 is far less annoying to mod because of the fact there is not any computer to rigidity approximately. The eighty 5 will additionally could desire to be as much as date to 86-ninety 3 exhaust to get authentic duals. The eighty 5 additionally has a smaller rearend 7.5 vs 8.8 for the 86-ninety 3. you may open up the exhaust and intake as pronounced above and placed 3.fifty 5 gears interior the 87 with out switching to MAF. Mine ran superb this way. as quickly as you start up establishing up the heads and installation a much bigger camshaft, then you will desire MAF because of the fact the cost density gadget won't make amends for the extra airflow and run lean.

Keep it as original as possible. There are codes that will tell it had a white top, so putting a black one on it will decrease its value.
