True, most men don't remove their hats at the table and they should regardless of what year it is. Proper etiquette never goes out of style.

Those are the men whose mothers taught them manners. Fifty years ago a man wouldn't leave the house without a hat. A lady without hat and gloves.
A man would remove his hat when speaking to a lady (except a military man who would salute her before speaking).
A man removes his right glove to shake hands and if sitting stands. A lady neither of these.
A gentleman is introduced to a lady. A young person to an older person or person of higher rank (depends on situation but could be teacher, doctor, minister etc)

a guy in his 40's is responsible for his personal movements and behaviour. climate or not his mom taught him solid manners isn't the priority as no matter if she did not by now he must have realized it on his personal. If he replaced into 4 i might want to have a diverse take on the concern So, If I said a guy with undesirable manners or lack of etiquette i does not be making an allowance for his mom.

Gentlemen are few and far between these days. Also, it is wonderful to see a gentleman tip his hat when a lady walks by. If you guys are reading...take notes. Manners are a turn on! We love a bad boy in the bedroom, but a gentleman in public.

It's not generally considered rude anymore, except in fancy restaurants and in grandma's house. I'm in college and they even wear hats IN CLASS! That bothers me more than hats at the table.

Maybe they did and wearing them now is a form of protest? I remember going to dances and deputy sheriffs made guys remove their hats on the dance floor. Sounds extreme, I never understood it, then again, I would have never dreamed of dancing while wearing my hat!

Well, they also wear earrings, so I guess they can wear their hats like women did back in the 40s.

So as to not increase the volume of light in a restaurant. Their balding heads would reflect it causing others to be blinded and not see what they are eating.
:) :)
Ps. Nothing wrong with balding heads though.
