What are the pro's and con's?

the pros - it makes you feel good about yourself, relaxed, etc and helps you overcome anxiety.

the cons - you can get addicted to some medications and feel like you "need" the meds to survive.

i would say that the pros definitely outweigh the cons, though.

Well, the pro is that it relieves the anxiety, but the cons are that it makes you drowsy, affects your ability to concentrate, and probably costs you money. If you can manage anxiety without meds I'd definitely give it a try.
