A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!! It
explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country
protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the
issue of
illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might
protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this
country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I
correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you
discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say,
"I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the
laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things
you don't like to do. I'm hardworking and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay,
you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my
kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my
husband will do your yard work because he too is hardworking
and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to
call
the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will
picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be
there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I
do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hardworking and
honest, um, except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing
only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you
can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice
and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to
learn my language so you can communicate with me
Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in
America....if you agree, pass it on (in English).
Share it if you see the value of it as a good simile. If
not blow it off along with your futur.

The analogy to the house break-in is not just flawed, it is ridiculous. It is like the Iraq war: everybody's a critic, but nobody has the answers to the question. What is the appropriate way to address the problem of perhaps as many as fifteen million illegals in this country?

Send them back to Mexico? How exactly? Have you ever considered how hard it would be to deport fifteen million people, even if you knew exactly who they were and where they were? And after the 11 million or so who are Mexican are put back into Mexico, how does the United States keep them from crossing the border again and again? A wall? All this deportation and wall building will cost tens of billions of dollars - at least!! But these anti-illegal agendas are predominantly Republican agendas. Aren't the Republicans supposed to be the ones who are opposed to "big governement?" Do Republicans only oppose big government when it means that somebody's being educated and fed?

And if the plan isn't to deport these illegals, then what is it?

The reason illegals are fed and educated and given health care is not because this country is so very decent and compassionate: the editorialist and her ilk are evidence of that! It is because their compassionate and respectable treatment is good for the United States. It is not just that so many millions of these people make beds and do landscaping for very low wages, it is also that they can easily be pushed into criminality and dangerousness if they are persecuted (Remember: criminality pays better.).
Also, it is comically contradictory for one conservative to complain that "they ought to learn English," and for the next conservative reactionary to remark that "they should not be given free education (which includes English instruction).

I await your sage plan as to how to treat the problem of 12 to 15 million illegal aliens in this country. I am waiting. Share your wonderful wisdom with me, so that I can share it with others and we may solve this illegal immigration problem.

The point is they are ILLEGAL -LEGAL - LEGAL , and they are breaking our laws . What happens when you break the law . Mexico has immigration laws too .
The US is seen as a free lunch .
" DON'T BREAK OUR LAWS " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can 80 % of Americans be wrong , they want the borders closed . We need to fine people who hire illegals of any race and those who rent to them , it would help with the expense to send them back .
When they see that the US means business a lot will go home on their own

We have become so socially correct we lose the big picture of morality.
If you break a law, you must be willing to pay the consequences.
If you are here without legal permission, you broke the law which by definition, automatically can celled your rights.
I am all for doing it the right way, just not the wrong way.

Yes, and they the illegal immigrants do not seem to understand that they are breaking our laws. They think that they can just make up what ever laws they want, or give some dumb reason like this was there country first, or that the Bible says they have the right to come here illegal or not. But we Americans must keep in mind that they are breaking our laws and must all be deported.

I do not understand why you think you are almighty and belong here because some people may not. I am sure your family somewhere at some point immigrated here.(that is the most polite way i can put it)DO NOT try to tell me they did it legally because if it were as easy as it was back then there would be no illegal immigration now!!!!
Oh and where did she write that in hicks town local?
