I am 14, 5'4, and weigh 115 lbs. I am a size 5 in jeans, and a small/medium in shirts. I practice Martial arts. I have a fat tummy, big thighs. My main problem however, is that I eat I bowl of ice cream almost everyday, love junk foods and cookies. I drink milk and eat fruits, but my diet isn't very healthy. How can I fix my diet and be slimer at the same time? I don't want bad advice. I am serious about this, it's my health. Thanks! =)

It is good that you are wanting to eat healthy. A bowl of ice cream is not going to hurt you as long as you eat one bowl and not three. You are still growing and you need a good variety of different foods in your diet every day to help you grow and develop. You also need more calories at your age to achieve this!
As far as your food choices are concerned you can cut back on cokes and instead drink a lot of water, milk (no more than 24 oz in a day) and a little bit of 100% juice (no more than 6 oz in a day). Too much juice is not good for you. I would recommend drinking milk. Too many teens skip out on milk when their bodies need calcium.
For food try and pack your lunch instead of eating the cafeteria food. Pack a sandwich, a piece of fruit, some carrots and a little bit of ranch dressing to dip it in and maybe some wheat thins or crackers that are whole grain. Your parents can help you choose the right types of foods to put in your lunch if you are having trouble deciding.
At home if you are wanting chips eat popcorn instead. It has less calories and it will fill you up. You can also choose to eat yogurt, fresh fruit or peanut butter with crackers or cheese with crackers or grahm crackers and milk. These are all healthy snacks and you will need to eat something when you get in from school. If you do not eat a snack it may cause you to want to eat more later in the day and reach for the junk.
For dinner ask to help prepare dinner with your parents and tell them that you want to eat healthy. As a family you will be able to make good decisions together about what to eat.
I do want to let you know that you are in a healthy weight range for your height. It is perfectly OK to eat healthier but do not get too concerned if one day you eat pizza and drink cokes.
It is all about your attitude. Most men like women who are healthy and who are not all skin and bones and who can eat food without feeling bad about eating.
I hope this helps!! Good luck to you and just remember to have a healthy attitude about who you are and don't try to diet or limit your diet too much.

Hey, I'm 15, am 5' 6", and weigh 114 pounds. I practice martial arts too! If you were to stop eating junk food, and totally adapt a healthier diet, you would probably lose a lot of fat (especially in your tummy and thighs, trust me). I'm a vegetarian, and I would advise you to be one (but, don't not eat ANY protein. Eat a lot of brown rice, soy milk, soy protein, TVP, etc.) Then, you're on the way to a healthy new you! Soy ice cream is a wonderful treat, and usually pretty low in fat (less that 10%! of your daily requirements, compared to 30 %!), so that could be a replacement for your ice cream. Don't worry, there are a lot of flavors of soy ice cream.

i know exactly how you feel. you want to loose weight, but you love the things that cause the weight like ice cream and junk foods. i love all of that stuff, i mean who doesnt? you should set aside one day out of the week, and allow yourself a "reward" such as low fat ice cream or a 1 candy bar. So if you work hard throughout the week by eating right you can look forward to that one day where you get that special food. Because you aren't going to be able to handle a diet thats all DIET FOOD. It wouldn't be enjoyable. Just work on what you eat and watch what you eat. Choose lighter items or practice portion control, like reading the label and measuring out what you're soupposed to have. It really works. Best of luck to you , I hope i was some help to you!

well, U probably already know the answer. drop the junk food. cookies and crackers and bread all go straight to fat unless u just worked out. it raises ur blood sugar level witch raises ur insulin , insuliln gets the sugar out of ur blood and stores it as fat. u need to sensitize ur insulin receptors so u when u work out and u need to refill ur muscles, u can. heres a couple things u can do:
instead of coke drink apple juice
instead of white rice eat basmati rice
make sure u eat durum wheat pasta
dont eat any pasteries or cookies
stay away from crackers and bread
eat 5 to six times a day to keep metabolism up
eat more protein like milk, tuna, chicken, peanuts
eat fat it peanuts, fish
take a multivitamin
and stick with it, if u mess up dont worry just do better the next day. ur not goint to gain 5lbs by cheating and eating some icecream one day out of the week. do better tommarow!
btw anyone that tells u not to eat protein is a goof. protein is the building block for muscle and mood in the brain(seretonin). no man wnats a twig belive it or not. guys like girls that are toned. specially legs and a booty that has some squats done.

First you need stronger self control to avoid sugary foods and junk foods in your diet. You need to learn about protein type foods, complex carbohydrates, and fats and calories. You should eat a low calorie diet of no more than 2000 calories a day if you are pretty active. Most of those calories should be in the form of complex carbohydrates such as fruits and vegetables and whole grains. 20% should be in good quality plant based protein and no more than 10% in good fats such as nuts. You need at least 9 hours of sleep every night an hour of intense exercize every day and drink at least 8 10 oz glasses of pure water every day, but not right before meals, with meals or within 2 hours after meals. You need to eat only at meal time starting with a healthy breakfast such as a bowl of regular oatmeal and raisins with milk soy milk is much better than cow's milk. One egg is good for breakfast every third day for you. A good supper at about 5 PM is a baked potato with the skin on. A large serving of peas, green beens, or broccoli or spinach. Maybe a small serving of corn. Then you need some raw vegetables such as carrot sticks, celery, radishes, green onions, lettuce, cuccumbers. You should add a serving of beets every other day and each at least one fresh apple a day, one fresh banana, some grapes, etc. Drink a glass of pure grape juice or orange juice every day. You should add a handful of nuts every few days. If possible the best source of protein is eggs and soy protein instead of beef or chicken because these animal meats have a lot of additives and fats that are not good for you. You could have a few servings of fish every week, but not any more than that because of contaminants in that meat as well. Don't eat any shell fish or pork as these meats are the most unhealthy for you. Garbonzo beens, peas, and lentiles are good sources of proteins for you as well as other types of beens. The only type of bread you should eat is low fat and low sugar whole wheat bread. Cut out almost all butters and oils and sugars. Dried fruits like prunes and appricots are very good for you. Avocado is good for you as well, just not too much at any one time. Whole brown rice if very good for you as well. It is important to have a lot of variety in your diet.
