I have already died to this world. When my husband was shot in Viet Nam, he prayed first. When his first wife and son were killed by a drunk driver and he watched them die, He prayed....
And in other times in our lives, when there were seconds left, we prayed. When there was joy, we prayed. When there was peace we prayed. When you doubt we pray. and when we die a mortal death, we will go with joy, and praise.

Assuming you are an atheist, it could be inferred that you are anti-Christian? The majority of atheists are disinterested in such matters and are actually quite peaceful... If I was shot in the chest, calling 911 is out of question as the time it takes to die is less than that to call 911. A simple prayer would suffice. Christianity, despite all outside criticism, like many religions of the world, belief in life after death, rather than simply becoming a part of the carbon-cycle.

if i was shot in the chest i would be praying i could even get to a phone let alone dial 911.
you don't have to be praying for an extended period of time when you are a Christian - God knows your heart and if you were on your deathbed, a simple heartflt i'm sorry would play happily on his ears. besides we pray often and try to live our lives in a state of grace so that - no matter what the hour, when our time comes we are ready.

Now now, why just one? God made Dr.'s and God made all knowledge. He created man with a mind, brains and curiosity to figure things out. some are good some are bad but, I'd be praying as fast as i could to that telephone to dial 911 and that doesn't mean I truat man or God more. Man was created by God and I bellieve in using all He gives us to use. We'd be stupid not to. That choice has no relevance as to a persons beliefs in God, he created man to help himself and gave us knowledge. In the bible it states that His people die from lack of knowledge, because they don't ask or know or learn what to do. He's given us everythign but, we somehow seem to let greed take it away from all of us and give it to a few. What a shame.

In Iraq we have no alternative but to pray. So many people get shot here you can't get an ambulance, and the remaining hospital is full. Besides, the phones are down most of the time.

God has given us wisdom.. we should dial 911. And besides god is a loving father who knows everything which happens to us. he is there for us before we even call out to him. so i can call 911 and leave the rest in his hands.

Both, Common sense tells you to do both.
Christianity is the belief that people are put here to save other people; you are really very naive if you think just praying is the answer. It is of there is no other option.
Just like when someone needs surgery, you go to the doctor, he does surgery, and you pray.

I would instinctively and automatically begin to pray once I realized I'd been shot. I would continue to pray while I called for help, waited for it, up until the point I passed out or was put under for surgery.

Why are you trying to force your beliefs on others? Firstly I am not too religious at all. When in a near death experience the brain goes "God No...I don't want to die" then all sorts of stupid things go through your mind in slow motion.....someone else calls the ambulance....the hurt person does not think of it at all.

That's a very clever intellectual booby trap you've designed, but I'd have to say I'd call 911 and pray while it's ringing. Just so you know, uh, prayer doesn't have to be a big, fancy RITUAL. It could be as simple as "Dear Lord, please help." No prayer beads required!
Not a very complicated system, but it works.
