I don't want her to go thru that. Does anyone know about the procedure, life after wards, if it can effect anything down the road, she's about 18 and and i believe they are 32D...or isn't there anything she can do without having the surgery, such as different bra's and so-fourth, her main reason for doing it is because she says they hurt her back....i told her she needs to work out more to strengthen it. Any comments? suggestions? helpful hints?

i had a breast reduction, in may of 2006, i was 46DD, no bra in the world would have made a difference! if they hurt they hurt! nothign cna ease that pain, except for a reduction! or a lift! when i woke up from surgery, i had absolutly no pain at all!!! they had me hooked up to this self serving medicine machine! wher eu press the button when YOU need it! i was in the hospital over nihgt, i had the surgery at 8am,, was done by Noon, so form noon til about noon the next day i only used the medicin once for pain, and it wasnt even that much pain... the recovery is a little bit difficult, she may need help for a week or 2, me, i was able to take care of my kids (3yrs and 1yr) at the 2 week point. they were still sensative, but wasnt painful, the most uncomfortable time duration is the first 2 weeks, u have to walk slow, so they dont bounce, or move, u cant really shower, (sponge bathe), u cant lift ur arms an higher than ur breast,... but thats all worth it if ur in alot of pain!!! no exercise can help with this situation of relieving back pain caused by breast! im asumming she is a small girl cuz a D cup isnt that bad, unless they are saggy. i am a D now, but im a bit of a big girl so its good for me! u have nothing to worry about, let ur friend do this for her! she will be a better person inside and she will have alot of self confidence ( whether or not she has some now) i go the surgery done for health reason and came out feeling soooo much better abou tmy self, i never thought was possible! i couldnt be happier, it change my whole outlook on myself...

give ur friend all the support in the world1 she is goin to need you when she does this! good luck to her!

Another lady that I talk to via internet said she underwent this surgery when she was young, and she never regretted it. Her back felt great after, and her clothes fit better. Her self-image really improved. The lady is in her 40s or 50s now, I believe.

There was a girl in my high school who also did this -- people gossipped about her, didn't understand why she wanted it, and were just generally not supportive. She did it anyway, and she felt much better afterward.

I think, if you are her friend, you should respect her decision in this. It's not frivolous, and it could save her a lot of pain down the road.

If she were doing the opposite (breast augmentation), I could present you with a dozen reasons for her not to do this. But, for this, I think you should support her. There is a risk, but she's going through pain right now, and the surgery has been proven to help back pain.

Good luck!

I've had the surgery about 10 years ago & would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to. I have NO regrets whatsoever. The only regret I have is that I should have done it sooner. It's not as painful as one might think, recovery is about 3 weeks. Because I didn't keep still broke a stitch, and I do have decreased nipple sensation in one breast & hypersensitivity in the other nipple. Yet still, I'd do it again. The only negative affect I had was, I couldn't produce a lot of milk to breast feed my second baby. But I supplimented with formula. If you really care for you friend, as I'm sure you do, support her. It is a difficult decision and a major surgery. She will be left with scars, but mine don't bother me at all. Suggest she go to a good surgeon & look at some of his work. I love my breasts now & I'm so glad I did it. Beside, if she really wants it, she will feel much more confident and much better about herself. I'm sure she's tired of people talking to her breasts rather than to her. Support her. Good luck.

Do you know how painful it is for some women to have large breasts? Support her in her decision to have surgery. She is a smart girl to realize at such a young age that the weight of her breasts are hurting her back. Life afterwards will be so much better for her!

I think that you should let her make her own decision. Owning a pair of D-cups myself I can say that they are heavy and can cause back pain. It isn't something you can work out to strengthen either to relieve breast pain. Different bras may work wonders but they may not always work. Surgery is very expensive and there are risks but many successful ones have occured and if it's a way to relieve pain and make your friend feel better about the way she looks and feels then I think she should go for it.

write down a list of questions to ask her doctor. Here's a few to start

- what are the possible side effects
- how does the procedure work
- what will it be like immediately after the operation and in the long term
- will this help my back and how much
- is this the most effective way, explain other possibilities

I have had several friends who have had breast reduction surgery and they are very happy with the results. They had it for the same reason as your friend also their bra straps actually were cutting into their skin and they have scarring from it. If she truly wants it then she should get it! Just try and be supportive either way.

My sister had that done... That doctor took about 4 lbs off each breast; whittled her down from a F cup to a D cup. She was developing calcium spurs on her back because of the weight of her breasts. Took her about 3 weeks to heal..and she feels great.

Breast Reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
