Currently no home-test exists for detection of cervical cancer.
Only seeing a gynecologist (doctor that specializes in female reproductive health) who performs a Pap Test on you is the only way to be checked for cervical cancer.

By having a papsmear. Have you had yours? If you are not yet familiar with the procedure. It is better to have one at least 2 weeks after ovulation, 3 days prior to the procedure, abstain from sex. If you are still a virgin ( no sexual contract), tell your obstetrician about it there is a virginal speculum. It is better to wear something comfortable since your doctor will ask you to remove your underwear. Most of the time, the procedure takes long because the patient has to remove her pants & underwear. You will be ask to lie down comfortably in the examining table. The doctor uses a droplight to view your cervix using the speculum. She uses a cotton pledget & a speculum to get a sample smear from your cervix. She will then put it in the slide which will be submitted to the pathologist to determine if it is normal, with infection or if it looks cancerous. You ask her when you will come back for the result.
Papsmear is usually done once a year or if you have a discharge which makes you feel itchy or if you have a discharge which is cheeselike, fishlike odor or foull smelling odor. It the discharge is not the usual that we have.

I hate to declare wait b/c with maximum cancers, waiting is on no account a sturdy course to bypass on, yet in view that I dont be attentive to the rest approximately your history, all i could desire to declare is to perhaps get a 2nd opinion from yet another Oncologist.

well you cant exactly check for cervical cancer, as it is preferably diagnosed in a early stage which can be managed by a pap smear, in advanced stages though there are symptoms like bleeding and pain during sexual intercourse and also loss of weight and appetite. There also might be discharge from the vagina, difficulty in urination, low back ache and other symptoms...better not wait for them and get the pap smear regularly as advised by the doc.

You can't do it yourself. You have to have a pap smear to have the cells sent to the lab. The cells have to be taken from the cervix and from inside the vagina. The OBGYN has to do it.
Also, when a doctor is doing the papsmear, he/she can see things that you cannot that might be visible.

Absolutely not...and if there is ANY question about possible cancer, whether it's your cervix or your breasts, do NOT wait...go immediately and have yourself checked. The sooner cancer is found, the more apt you are to survive.

of course not. They have to have a swab sample of cells to check under the microscope at the lab. That is why you go for Pap tests.
