How do I tell them that I want to go live with relatives somewhere else without offending them? It's nothing againt them at all, it's just that they are not going to leave this town and I really want to get out.

Well, let's be honest - there's no way to tell your parents that they will like. There is no magic combination of words to communicate that idea and get anything back like, "Okay, son! We'll call Aunt Maggie and let her know you're coming! Need any help packing?"

That said, there sure is a right and wrong way to approach this topic with the 'rents. "I hate this town and I hate my school and I want to go away and live with someone else" sounds:

> whiny
> as though you're choosing greener pastures over your parents.

I'm not saying that this is true, just that it would sound that way to just about anyone on the receiving end.

So. The best way to tell them is to CALMLY as if you can talk to them and CALMLY tell them that you're not happy where you are, and why. Tell them the situation's gotten so bad that you've thought about moving away. Tell them where you're thinking of going, and why you think it would be better than where you are.

Then you listen. You don't argue, whine, etc. You just listen to what they say. You ask if they have any suggestions. Then you listen to what they say.

The best way to tell almost anyone almost anything is calmly, with a willingness to listen to their side.

Understand that your parents may not go for the whole moving thing - most wouldn't. They might be open to other ideas that would make things better for you (like maybe vacations and summers with the other relatives - if the relatives are willing?).

If not, if they just want you there, then you focus heavy duty on schoolwork and plans to get out on your own when you're old enough - at which point, you can live anywhere you can afford to live. Good luck!

You do realize that asking to live with someone else is going to SERIOUSLY hurt your parents' feelings, even if you say you don't mean it personally, right?

You should rethink asking about this unless you are being horribly abused by classmates or something. If it's just a general dislike of the school and town then I honestly think that you don't have a good enough reason to go anywhere.

Tell them what you need. You need to be respectful when you tell them though.

Trust me... I wasn't respectful when I told me father that I was tired of the place I was at and wanted to move to my mothers.

It turned out to be a huge mess. I ended up leaving and not going to see him until I turned 18.

Everything is cool now. But like I said... just tell them what you NEED.

leave when you graduate then you can Move out and move somewhere else.
Sorry but if they stay you should stay.
But you do need to tell them how you feel about it. So they atleast have an idea.

I went through this before. We moved to, can you believe it, Arkansas and I hated it. One girl spit in my hair, another saying she was going to kick my butt. No one liked me, except for a few guys which got me in to more trouble. My parents didn't seem to care. They didn't seem to care at all. I was so depressed and lonely. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. You know though, it all came out all right. I still live in Arkansas and I met my cool from California, husband and have two kids. I am so glad that my parents moved me to this horrible boring place, its now giving me great blessings.

The best way would be to just sit them down and explain to them how you feel. Approach them in a mature manner and they will be more willing to listen and hear you out.

Tell them just like you did us. I hate where I live too. You have to be honest with them and yourself
