The reason why I ask is bcause i know that blood on the stool is a serious symptom and can mean colon cancer, but i think i heard that tis uncommon for my age....Anyway, the stools look normal usually and normal in color, just that in some places there have been small streaks of blood on the surface.. Thjis really made me panicc but i also thought of the possibility of a hemmorhoid, since after i wiped, i was very itchy and when i wiped again fresh blood was on the paper which made me think that the blood was added to the stool on the way out due to a hemmorhoid i might not know about..Anyways i reallly just wnated to see some opinions, and try to ease my mind...thanks

Usually... fresh blood is a sign of a source near the anal opening. Blood from further inside usually gets progressively darker.

You can find out more info on www.webmd.com by using their search feature.

You can REALLY find out more by seeing your Doctor really soon... and then have some REAL peace of mind knowing the answer from a real live expert instead of from a real live stranger like me.

We are ALL glad you did ask SOMEBODY tho, and not try to let it "fix itself".

I have the same thing. I had the colonoscopy for other reasons, and I am fine. It can be from hard stools causing minor tears, hemorroids, etc. I would ask the doctor at least by calling the nurse. Usually colon cancer shows dark stools from higher up bleeding.

Regardless of your age or if you think it's hemmoroids or not, anytime you see blood in your stool you should have it checked immediately. Cancer is not selective when it comes to gender, or age....it can happen to anyone, at anytime. When it comes to colon cancer, the sooner it's found, the better your chances of survival are. It can be cured if caught early, however, if you wait too long, your chances are not as good. If it's hemmoroids, they should be checked and treated as well. If left untreated, they can become horribly painful and major surgery may be needed. Better to deal with them when they're not so bad!!!

Yes. It could also mean you have a fissure - which is a little tear.

Get yourself checked by a doctor. He/she will refer you to a Proctologist who specializes in hemorrhoids and other problems in that area.
