When it's covered in plastic for 40 years, and you inherit from grandma.......and no one ever sat on the real fabric...and it's in perfect condition...and has real wood
but no one wants it but the antique dealer for $20
However, if you marry rich and they have antique furniture...then it's worth $1000....

generally speaking - anything over 100 years old should be considered old - of course in Europe and further east, there are things that are thousands of years old, so everything is relative.
