if tomatos grow to big will they taste worse?

Those gigantic (and usually very pale-colored) tomatoes you buy in the supermarket are NOT an indication of how similar sized "home-grown" tomatoes will taste. The big, perfect tomatoes in the market are hydroponically grown, which means they're not grown in dirt. Basically, they're grown in water---the water has been infused with nutrients that help to produce a healthy, hearty fruit. They lack any sort of bright color, and depth of flavor, but at least they're perfectly round, and resistant to bugs.

Your garden tomatoes can vary widely in size, color, shape and flavor. It all has to do with the variety of tomato you're growing, as well as the conditions of the soil you're growing them in (not to mention the amount of sunshine they get, the amount of rainfall, etc.).

You may grow a softball-sized heirloom tomato that got sufficient sunshine, in quality soil, and you'll have a delicious tomato; or, you might grow cherry tomatoes in insufficient sunshine, in poor-quality soil, and they'll be practically flavorless.

Size (in this case) doesn't matter that much. It's mostly about the OTHER things affecting the tomato.

A tomato grows to its maximum size before ripening (turning red), so allowing it to grow too large is not an issue. The more ripe a tomato is, the more flavorful and sweet it will be, that is, until it begins to rot.

I don't think so my family has a small garden in the spring and our tomatoes came out in a good size and they didn't taste bad so I don't think that growing too big should effect their taste.
