I am so sick and tired of everyone blaming Don King for Tyson's demise. Tyson is a grown man, in control of his faculties (well, kind of), who made his own choices. No one put a gun to his head and told him to sign on with King.
I'm also sick of hearing what a 'great' fighter Tyson was. How is he great when the wins on his resume are against guys like Bruce Seldon and Trevor Berbick, and anyone that actually fought back in a planned, disciplined manner knocked his a*s out?
In answer to your question, yes, Tyson did reach his full potential. The night he bit a chunk of Holyfield's ear off.
That night will forever define what kind of a fighter he is, or was; basically a terrifically fast, overrated coward, that brutalized his way out of a fight to avoid getting knocked out again, by committing what might be the most savage foul in the history of sport.

Mike was the most deadly boxer when he was on his way up.Don King was the downfall of Iron Mike.Once again,Mike was sliding down a greased pole ever since he hooked up with DK.
I feel he just touched the surface of his potential, but then made a bad choice...over and over....

yes. he was the youngest champ at 20..held every belt that could be held. and was the first to do that in...like 40 years. however a better thought might have been..did tyson lose it to early in his career?
and that he did.
he'll go down for sure as one of the top 3 boxers of all time...but he probably could have been number one had he not gone to prison for rape and not gotten caught up with the wrong people (again..and again..and again....)
but his time has come and passed.

Nope. He left his roots when he got with Don King. Mike Tyson could have been the greatest fighter ever. He abandoned everything for money and now look at him, he's trying to sue Don King for money because he's broke. Sick world! Sick!

No. If Cus D'Amato had lived longer, Tyson might then have reached his full potential and probably would have been undoubtedly the greatest of all time. After Cus died, his life and training went downhill.

In a way as he did win the heavyweight championship but after losing to Douglas was never the same again as he lost his aura of invincibility.

Yes, he did. Boxing is a sport of brains over brawn. He was limited in the brains department.
