How important are The Ten Commandments held to be in our society? If we take the contents of the Internet to be an indication of what concerns us these days, then at first glance The Ten Commandments are very important. A search using AltaVista and the search string <"The Ten Commandments"> returned 5096 locations at which the phrase "The Ten Commandments" may be found. [3] However, a more detailed look at the list makes it quite clear that the phrase "The Ten Commandments" is used almost without exception only as a figure of speech in attempts to be funny or poignant. When the search is made to be more specific by using the string <+"The Ten Commandments" +"Holy Bible">, that narrows the list down to 33 addresses that relate to entries pertaining to The Ten Commandments in the Holy Bible. Sorry to say they influence today's society very little there are now to many different kinds of Religion in the U.S. and most people forgot the real reason we came here to start with. I personally think if we continue on the path we are on God could turn his back on us. It is a sad time when they open congress and senate with a prayer and even Nascar Races supposedly only attended by Redneck illiterates but actually most are the pillars of their communities, I suppose the separation of Church and State don't apply to Congress and Senate. Prayer and pledge of allegiance was ousted in Schools because of Church and State also the words under God remove from our pledge but . Flags that so many Soldiers died defending is now treated like a old rag instead of ole Glory. In defense of the ten commandants my thoughts are: if the Ten Commandants offend you the good Lord made your head so it would turn so you don't have to see them to be offended, was he thinking ahead or what ? He could have made us so your head didn't turn at all then I would understand why some idiots could get offended

Society is horrible. Look at the garbage that is happening around the world. The Lord's name is cursed and sworn, people are murdered, things are stolen, people are bearing false witness, there are a lot of people who do not honour their parents. There is just too much junk going on and people do not seem to care.

Most people don't live by them unfortunately..they would rather blame, hurt and act as though they are the spokesperson for their God meanwhile being a hypocrite. I'm not a Christian but try to live my life by them.

they don't. many people have broken every one of them. (abortion is killing, too)
about the only thing I see them even used for anymore is to condemn someone else who breaks one, but not ourselves. I wonder how many people could even remember all 10, if their life depended on it? I can only think of 7 without looking.

they let people know exactly what rules they are constantly breaking. otherwise they would not even realize what sinners they truly are. nobody follows those rules, but they are nice to know.
