I came to the United States from the United Kingdom on a 90 day visa.
I want to apply for work and an SSN number but can't as my visa ran out.
I read somewhere that once your visa is up (finished) then there is nothing you can do to obtain work and an SSN number.
Does anyone have any information for me regarding this matter as i don't want to be here illegally or be branded an illegal immigrant.
I am a hard working and honest individual who only wants to make a living here in the United States.

If you entered on a 90 day visitor visa, you are not allowed to work or entitled to a SSN. A visitor visa is a temporary visa for visiting the US only.

Working in the US without proper USCIS approval is beaking US immigration laws and makes you subject to deportation if found out.

If you want to remain in the US to work, you need to apply for the proper visa, but since your visa status has already expired you would have to prove the following:

- The delay was due to extraordinary circumstances beyond your control;
- The length of the delay was reasonable;
- You have not done anything else to violate your nonimmigrant status (such as work without USCIS approval);
- You are still a nonimmigrant (This means that you are not trying to become a permanent resident of the United States. There are some exceptions.); and
- You are not in formal proceedings to remove (deport) you from the country.

At this point, you ARE illegal, since you failed to leave the US at the end of the 90 time frame allowed to you and failed to file for an extension or filed for change of status from nonimmigrant visa . The longer you remain in the US after the expiry of your I-94 could subject you to a 3-10 year ban from ever entering the US again.

what's your status contained in the U.S. on the prompt, i.e. which visa, I ask because you've been the following 12 years, meaning you've been the following because you the position 7 (provide or take many years). both way, in case you do not have a SSN and also you're literally not eligible for one, then purely call down for your community Social protection workplace and ask then to print you off a letter pointing out that you've both been denied a SSN or that you're ineligible for one - do not forget to take with you, your identity and information of legal presence contained in the U.S. maximum DMV's contained in the U.S. will settle for this letter in lei of a SSN. have a glance at your state's DMV internet website for information.
