In the 60s sacahrin was taken off by the fda in the tiny tablet form only to return several years later as sweet n low. Becase it showed a high incidence of cancer in lab rats. Cyclamates was then added in the early 70 s and swiftly removed the companies has numerous other ones lined up.Serle then added Asparteme know as equal (supposedly pushed through by none other than Dick Cheney when he was a big businessman.....still is)

Aspertame? omg that was some awful tasting stuff if you got a mouthful that wasnt dissolved...yuck!

Cyclamate? It was banned as suspected carcinogen. I understand it had no aftertaste and it really wasn't a welcome decision.
