Just recently I've fallen for a boy who might possibly like me back- I've fallen hard. I know i'm only fourteen, and couldn't possibly know the meaning of love, but whenever I think of him looking at me and smiling, and just thinking of him in general, it feels like my gut drops, and it's hard to stop smiling. What's love like?

What your going through is normal. Though it may feel strong right now, those feelings may not last. Is it love? Probably, most likely not. It's a crush. In between now and the time you are an adult you might go through several crushes. How do you know when it's love? It's kinda hard to explain, but I'll try. Love is not necessarily based on feelings. Love also takes time to develop and grow. True love is unselfish in its devotion to the other person and unlike a crush, it doesn't lighten up with time. I'd like to give some advice. Don't be in such a rush. At fourteen you don't need to get too serious. Enjoy school and plan on a career. Plan your future and work towards some positive goals. Do these things and years later you'll be glad you did. As you get older look for someone who will treat you with respect and will seek to provide for you. Again, don't be in a hurry. Enjoy your teen years and make wise decisions.

I am not going to say ur are not in love...i used to get that alot wheni was a teenager for guys i had a crush on. I just about acted on every feeling like that and discovered for me it was just lust. I have and still experiencing true love and i totally believe in it. I never did before but now i know there is a one for me. The reason why i dont think its love for you is that u are very young and (please do not take offense) one needs a certain level of maturity to truly experience and recognise that feeling. I would say u also just know, like there is no question in ur mind whether or nor u love the person.

I think love is when too minds are in perfect harmony and there is attraction and understandig and caring. I have been IN love only once, from my experience it went from being absolute heaven to very painful. But there is nothing like it and you will never forget it when it does happen. I dont think there is an age on love but has to do with two people reconginzing feelings for each other in a mature and in depth way. I feel all nostalgic now... : )

At 14 you have no idea what love is like, and there is no way to describe it to you at that age. Love is something that most 20 year olds don't understand, most 30 year olds struggle to understand, and by the time you are 40, you finally get a grip and realize that you understand what love really is. My best advice to you is wait, don't jump into things, and hopefully you will be much happier in the long run.

What is love like? It's like all of the feelings you just described. It doesn't really matter if it "lasts" or not ... what matters is that you experience the joy you are experiencing now. Sometimes, it lasts, sometimes it doesn't, but remember ... it is far better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.

There are many cases of love beginning at age 14 and lasting forever. This could come to pass for you too! If it doesn't, you will still always have the exquisite memory of your *first* love!
Enjoy it!

Rock on, Mama!

Love is more peaceful than what you're describing. That's about as close as you can get without overgeneralizing. It's just wanting the best for that person. You'd take a bullet for that person without a second thought, but you'd like to spend the rest of your life with that person. Take care of him/her, Laugh with him/her, Cry with him/her. Just because you know that it would make you and him/her happy. Like an overestimated love like the kind you have for your parents or siblings.

I believe in it... and I've been there. I would say enjoy the feeling while it lasts. He might be the boy for you or he might not. I can definitely say that love exists. I hope it works out for you.

that is "severe priced" to love thy neighbour. you won't be able to placed your self first for all time. it really is why there are so few people honestly following the teachings of Jesus. it really is why i finished turning out to be a Christian and grew to grow to be a Buddhist fairly ... i love those who honestly stay the way all religions say you're meant to, and that i don't love being round hypocrites. (ok adult adult males ... i recognize ALL about Tiger Woods, and contained in the eyes of a operating in route of dharma center, he does not be considered a Buddhist. similar to all of us recognize Christians who do not act like Christians. that is purely that the "bar" is determined larger in Buddhism, and to be an total-time Buddhist is an total-time dedication).
