you own ? What if you had no radio, no CD's, music, no DVD players, no T.V. ? no......etc etc etc. the list goes on and on and on. Why do you cling to your possessions, why are you so materialistic ? Is this an impt. part of Your Way of Life, accoring to your religions, and your religious books ? And what do your saviours, prophets, teachers, holy books, etc say about "cling to materialism, as you do ?"

As long as the Lord continues to work in my life, I really do not need any possessions. I recently gave away a lot of stuff to charity. It was some stuff I no longer had any use for. Why should I hog it if I am not using it? I know somebody could get some great use out of the stuff I gave away.

I have been blessed by God with what I have and I thank Him for it. If God does not think I need a certain thing, He burdens my heart to give it away.

i am a Celtic pagan. there are no rules to govern how much i may own, only that i may not gain it through selling Healings and blessings. i work hard 12 hours a day at a full time job and on my days off i make crafts to sell. i work 25 days out of the month and i work in 12 hour shifts either at my full time job or at my part time crafting business minus the time that i spend blessing homes, preforming marriages, and claensing rituals (all of which i do for free and refuse any kind of payment). and 5 days a month i live my life and if i choose to do it with nice things that is my business. so long as i do not gain monetary things from the religious services that i provide for others.
i believe that at some point in my lifetime that all of these nice things will be taken from mankind and we will live as tribes again. i will enjoy life while it is good.

What are you talking about? Who is clinging. Merely having some things doesn't make you materialistic! I'd rather be out in the street with Jesus than have everything in the world without Him.

Because we fall prey to the tempting belief that things can heal and save.

We're human. And there are some like the Simple Way people who are trying to eschew materialism and rebuild the kind of church they had in Acts.

I've always wondered why so many religious individuals have such a problem with materialism. So what if someone likes to have nice and/or expensive things? Who are they really hurting by that? No one.

YOUR QUITE CORRECT!
good for you giving this question....
I am a Christian, I drive a bomb of a car...
I have no CD player...I DID get rid of my most treasured stuff, about 12 years ago..when I went into the ministry.
It was not hard for me, in a way..I felt ''free''!

Since then we live a humble life, I do have one weakness...I like
to smell nice.
But! we never go out much, just work and more work...
But you were right with this question.....

Everyone is human. Religious or not, humans are often selfish or materialistic. Of course, those who put God first can weed out materialistic pursuits and turn them toward a better purpose.

i cling to nothing
i sit on my PC ( granted ) but if i didn't have it .. i would be no worse off .. i would be doing something better with myself no doubt
however this is the only thing i enjoy and do not buy many things for myself except necessities
i dont like material possessions at all
if my husband gives me money to buy something .. you can guarantee i come back with something for someone else and not myself
i dont need money and i dont need possessions
i do need food and heat for my family .. that's about it
