I've met TONS of guys from the net. One word of caution however, ensure that you are in a VERY public VERY safe environment to meet this person. And never put yourself in a position to be alone with this person. My theory is that there are creepy people and there are great people from the net, same as creepy people and great people from the bar...My girlfriend's brother met his wife over the internet... So I say GO FOR IT but BE SAFE! GOOD LUCK!

If you decide to meet:
Talk to the person on the phone first. He can say he's your age, but you have no way of knowing if that's the truth. Also you get a better idea of the person when talking over the phone. Get him to send you his number, not the other way round.
Second, ALWAYS meet in a public place WITH a friend. NEVER meet in a secluded space or by yourself. Make sure your friend makes a point of commenting about the guys name and any other identification, so they understand (if they are up to no good), the police will get information about them.
Third, get to know the person a few times in public. Don't decide to go someplace secluded or private before getting an idea about the person.
Forth, and most important, if things do not feel right, if something feels odd or not right, LEAVE and don't meet again. As modern humans we don't pay attention to subtle feelings we pick up. An extremely common thing to hear from rape victims, is that they felt something was wrong ahead of time, but dismissed the feelings. Your discomfort and feelings that something is wrong are something you really, really should pay attention to.
REMEMBER, this is much more dangerous than meeting someone in a more normal way.

Meet at the police station or at a church function - somewhere where there are a lot of people around who will see everything about your first meeting - even though it's really a dangerous idea. But, sometimes Internet friendships do work out.
Do you parents know all about it? Let them go with you or have his parents bring him to your house when your parents can all meet.
If he's not game for any of these ideas - Ditch him fast, run, and don't look back! Can you say "Online Pervert?"

What does your heart say to you ? If yes, then meet in a public spot and bring a friend along too. If he is a "real" person, this will not be a problem. "Real person" here means trustworthy and honest, etc. If he were to have bad intentions, then he would not want to meet in a public area, and especially with a friend. Remember, it takes time to earn trust.

I hope you're older and wiser. If you're still a teenager be very careful, people like to take advantage of younger ones. If not then go for it but take a friend and a cell phone.
Dont meet him though if you've never talked on the phone. Talk on the phone...a lot. Send tons of pictures and make sure you know eachother very well.
But yeah take a friend or two, let people know where you are. b etter safe than sorry.

if you want to, go meet at a public place. don't go into a car with him or go to a second private location. let a lot of people know where you're going.
i, however, would want to talk you out of it. don't do it, hon. you never know what evil lies beneath a good exterior. you can never underestimate the evil that lurks beneath people.

Absolutely not.
If you sort of want to meet him.
Ask him to leave a note in the park or something.
Does he know what you look like?
If he doesnt, go ahead and pretend to be a jogger through the place you were going to meet, or a bystander. See if he is really who he says he is, if he is introduce yourself, if not, act clueless.
Take care.
