Go to him now (or call) and tell him he doesn't have to be your bf but you want to remain his friend for life. that way if he says yes there will be no guilt involved because you gave him the chance to back out

An ex is an ex for a reason. You are thinking about him again because you are lonely. Do something, go somewhere where you can meet new people. Yo yo relationships don't last. Move on.
