I think a female canary is called a staple.. is that true? and if not what are they called?

hold on.. i thought a hen was a female chicken...not a female canary.. u know a small little colorful bird that sings.

Yes a hen is a adult female chicken but a hen is also a female octopus or lobster as well as being the flesh of an older chicken suitable for stewing.

AND a hen is also an adult female bird. So you do get both hen & cock canaries.

I've also looked up staple & the definitions do not include female canary.

However, it does seem that most people just refer to female canaries as female canaries.

A female canary is called a hen. The males are called cocks. (And I'm pretty sure that's true for most, if not all birds. Not just chickens.)

I believe their called....a female to be honest with you. A female chicken is called a Hen but birds are called female's I think. I'll be watching your question to learn if there's another name for them. thank you. :)

It depends on what kind of bird it is. If it's a peacock then it's called a hen.

hen - and the male, a cöck.

eg: a Peacocks mate is infact a peahen (truly!) but most folks just refer to them as peacocks irrespective of gender - like most folks call bitches, dogs.
