One of the turning points for some people who voted for bush in the second term was that he said there was going to be no draft. If he gets out of office will there be a draft?

This is the lamest most over asked question on this board. 99% of the time asked by some "special" person who think they are too good to serve their nation or is just a wuss. Grow a pair......

As to your question? the Answer for the 500th time is still, NO.
We recruited 80,000 plus in the US Army alone, And all services have met there goals. Nobody in the military wants to put up with the problems, slackers, Co's, druggies, Etc that a draft brings. We have thousands who due to their MOS have not even been deployed at all.

Besides,we voted on it in the last Congress and it failed overwhelmingly..... Pushed by a Democrat by the way Charles Rangel ( D ) NY.

If anything, we should be jumping up and down with joy that Bush will be out soon. With the Democrats in control of the House and the Senate, there is a slim to nothing chance that we would ever have a draft or be willing to extend the lenght of supporting and training Iraq's. My answer would be, No there will not be a draft. Not even a chance of it.

No. That would require changing the constitution, it won't happen. There is less chance of a draft ever being reinstated once Bush is out because we will finally get our troops out of Iraq. Fewer dead troops=less need for a draft.

I do not really think that there will be a draft.
If the Republican party wins in 08 then it will go on as it is today.
If the liberals win they will disband the milatary for they do not think that the terrorest need to be faught.

"If the liberals win they will disband the milatary for they do not think that the terrorest need to be faught."

Its very funny how cons like to jump all over libs as being intellectually inferior and then they give statements like ^these^ to support their party.

Whatever happens when Bush gets out of office it can't be anymore worrisome than things have been over the past few years... Unless someone with the "If the liberals win they will disband the milatary for they do not think that the terrorest need to be faught." philosophy. If that happens... its over for all of us.

And if things are still getting along in two years the way they are getting along now then you will know that we have been long in over our heads.

If they only want one term as president they could, but I would guess that they won't reinstate a draft.
