offer to sign her up for a kick boxing or tae bo class at the gym. Physical activity is a great way to let out anger. Or say let go for a run or walk, get out of the house and maybe talk with her to see what is going on with her.

A piece of advice I can give you is not to react negatively to her lashing out. Keep calm and listen to what she says. Be sensitive and responsive to her, and talk her through her what is bothering her ONLY if she brings up the subject. Don't dismiss her emotions, either. Just be with her. If it's any consolation to you, emotional states do and will eventually pass.

My life with a nagging and obsessive-compulsive mother has taught me sensitivity and patience that is required for love, and the practice of psychology. Good luck.

I learned recently from a therapist that anger is a reaction to one of two things. Fear or hurt.

For example, when you get so ticked off because someone cut you off in traffic it really just scared you for a sec and then you reacted in anger.

Another example.... your sibling hid behind the couch and jumped out and scared you. You got mad at them. But your first reaction was fear.

Same with hurt. When someone says mean things to us, we get mad at them. But the truth is, we are hurt by what they said.

So, your mom is feeling one way or the other under all that anger she has today.

One thing you might do is just, in a nice calm way, ask her what's bothering her? Don't do it in a way that might make her defensive. Do it in a "I really care about you" type of way.

Good luck!

This is a very good blog, a beginner’s guide to abnormal psychology.
Short, clear and simple; and you can even post your question and contact the author regarding particular subject you are interested in

She needs to want to help her self first before you can help her. It can be hard to watch someone go though this but be patient and you mom will let you know when she needs your help just make sure you are willing to help at the time..
