The past few times I've made brownies, they've been too gooey to even try to eat. I always do the toothpick trick....brownies are done when a toothpick that you insert into the brownies comes out clean. Before these past few times, my brownies have always turned out great so is there something that I'm doing wrong? What can I do to ensure that my brownies don't come out gooey the next time I bake?

It is because the temperature isnt hot enough or something is wrong with the oven. So either leave them in longer or turn up the heat.

Have you moved?
Changed your cooking dish?
Got a new oven?

All of these can have affects on your cooking, your elevation may be diffrent and it makes a big diffrence in some recipies.
Glass and metal cook ware have diffrent cook times,I don't know about the new silocone ones I have not used them.
Diffrent ovens cook at diffrent rates, another issue is maybe your oven (if old) needs to be recalibrated.
All that said make sure your ingredients are still fresh,I went to my cupboard this morning and found year old baking soda, so had to run to the store for new for a cake
contest today. ( I took 2nd).

Check twice that you have the right ingredients and right measurements. Then make sure that the brownies are cooked long enough and let them sit for awhile and they should be fine.
