You are to be admired but I woudnt. Your Wedding day is to be a happy meaniful time and should just be devoted to yourselves notice I put it both together you and your future partner .There will be ample times you can do charity work and because you have ab obvious decent character Im sure you will. For those reasons have a truly beautiful wedding and give it all you have got .luck

You could do the in lieu of gifts thing or you could do this: you know when they give the bride a dollar or whatever to dance with her, well donate that. I don't think that anyone is going to mind donating anything for a good cause like breast cancer. Some people will probably do both. They are going to see that you thought of someone else on "your day" and if they already don't know what a special person you are then they will find out on your wedding day.

Wow. I am so amazed most brides are all about "their day" I think it is admirable that you want to do something so wonderful.
I know it's not the best idea but what about if you put a note in the invitation's saying that you are going to have a donation box that is going to go to the Brest cancer society. Or maybe you can put the pink pins on every ones place setting. that alone will raise awareness.
I hope this helps, and i am sorry for your losses. Hope your wedding is a truly special day for you, you deserve it.

It is a nice idea but like someone else said, not sure that is the proper place. People are already being asked for a shower gift, stag ticket, wedding gift etc; ( I hate to put people on the spot- in case they are struggling financially) you could do a fund raiser on another occasion but you could do a family picture board including the deceased loved ones; copy old photos and put into a collage within a picture frame and display that at your wedding ; people love to see if their picture is there and remember all good times and people that have shared in your life; it is good way for you and all to remember the living and the friends and family who didn't survive cancer but still are there at your wedding in happy photos, thoughts and in your heart. Good Luck.

It is a very good cause, but I don't know if a wedding is the best place, the only thing I can think of is you would have to make an announcement yourself before everyone starts having a good time and maybe have a small dish of some sort, if anyone would like to contribute at that time, make the announcement short and hope for the best. Good Luck?? Hope it goes over.

This is the second answer about the pink ribbon, I saw the other. The cancer society would be happy for the donations. I know this day is about you, but if there are people who won't be at the wedding because of this monster, then honour them. That would be good of you.

Why not make up little boutonnières and mini-corsages with the breast cancer awareness pink ribbon and have them on the table with the guest book. Make a heart-shaped container of some sort and place a sign near it requesting that guests "buy" a flower with a donation of any amount to support breast cancer help in honor of your relatives and in celebration of your day of hope and love.

Have a dollar dance, and announce that the proceeds will go to your favorite breast cancer charity in honor of your family members.

Why not have a local florist or the one doing your flowers make up little may flower boquets and buttoneers for the men and sell them for any donation. Ask the florist to donate the folwers, have pink ribbons and have it in your invitation that you plan on this, or, and you can advertise in the paper that the florist donated the flowers, free advertisement for them. Take a pic. to the paper with a little write up about it. Good luck, congrats!

Have some special cards made up and hand them out with pink bows. Whoever is greeting patrons could give those out. Thats low key enough. have a special box for donations or a paticular group they can donate to.
