I am trying to type up an essay. it was working fine but now its not. i pressed tab for the begining of a new paragraph, like normal, but then while typing that sentence, it had to continue onto the next line, but instead of going back to the left side, its going like i pressed tabbed. i tried backspaceing, closing it, everything i could think of. i dont know what to do and i need to type this up now...help??

Try right-clicking on the paragraph and choose Paragraph. Make sure that under Indentation, under Special choose None. Also make sure that the left and right are set to zero.

To view paragraph markings (which would indicate what kind of tab you have on that paragraph, and enable you to delete it easier),

1. On the Word menu, click Preferences, and then click View.
2. Under Nonprinting characters, select the check boxes next to the characters you want to display.
Tip To display all formatting marks, select the All check box instead of selecting each individual check box.

Sounds like you may have inadvertently moved your left indentation. Without being able to see your screen that's All I can think of. try dragging the indent arrow at the top of the page in the ruler back to the left.
