Know if you need to lose weight

Health specialist use a measure called BMI, short for Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. This gives a good measure of your total body fat. BMI compares your height and weight. It shows if you are underweight, at a healthy weight, or overweight.

You know how many pounds are there in 1 kg. Do not know let me help you, it is 1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds. Check out what your BMI is by using the BMI calculator.

BMI Category
Below 18.5 Underweight
Between 18.5 - 24.9 Healthy Weight
Between 25 - 29.9 Overweight
Over 30 Obese

Look at the BMI chart to find out how much weight you need to lose to move from obese to overweight or from overweight into a healthy range. Knowing this can help you set a good weight loss goal.

You have a BMI of 34, that is already in the obese range.
Your first step should be to try to come down to 200 pounds - take your time, you really should not loose more than a pound a week if you want to do it seriously. Crash diets will not work - you'll be so sick and tired of them in no time at all (plus, they don't work), you'll just give up.
Once you reached 200 pounds, give yourself some time there, your BMI is then already down in the overweight range, 28.7. You will already be much healthier. Don't hurry, this is all going to take some time.
Once you get down to 170 pounds you are fine, your BMI is 24.4, well in the normal range.
By the way, you are lucky - I am sure you'll look great already even when you aren't down at 170 yet. Tall girls like you can carry some extra weight a lot better than runts like me - I am 5'3 and don't look imposing at whatever weight.
Good luck!!

Some of the others mentioned a good weight for you to be under 150 pounds - well, if you want to be skinny, perhaps. It might however just be that staying that low will be an eternal diet because your body would like to be a bit more normal.

I would say about 150 would be okay. You can still grow taller, so the weight will be more balanced as you get taller.

I lost over 35 pounds eating mostly proteins with a few carbs thrown in there. I would recommend protein drinks and protein bars when you are hungry, but do eat some sensible meals. I ate a lot of salads with chicken.

Good luck and best wishes for a successful and healthy life.

I would say about 150-160 lbs. Anything under 150 would be way to skinny. Good luck.
