All knowledge possessed by each human being is necessarily entangled with beliefs, some of which are religious and some others scientific. Disagreements may arise between two religious beliefs, between two scientific beliefs, or between a religious belief and a scientific belief. Let us view the lack of immunity to belief-based conflicts as just one similarity between science and religion. There are other similarities between religion and science, and yes, there are differences too.

Religion KNOWS "how things came to be this way" and looks around at "what is" for support for that idea.

Science looks around at "what is" and comes up with an IDEA of "how things came to be this way."

Which process is more trust-worthy?

Science is evidence-based, and new ideas can replace old ones if you can prove them to be true. Religion is faith-based, and doubting its truth is forbidden because it shows lack of faith. Science tries to explain how the universe works, in the hope that this will allow new technologies which will improve our lives. Religion tries to explain why we are here and what we should do with our lives, in the hope that we will find God and improve our lives. In science, nothing is ever truly certain, though 99.99% is considered close enough. In religion, the existence of God and His Word are indisputable, though interpretations of that Word can vary. Science does not and should not tell people how to live their lives. Religion does not and should not tell people how the universe works. In my mind, the current conflict between the two is due to a perceived inconsistency between these two worldviews. According to some interpretations of the Bible, God created the world in about 4,000 BC. According to science, the universe began about 13 billion years ago. This is an area where I trust science - because it deals with history and physical evidence - but that doesn't stop me from looking to religion for ethical advice and a purpose to my life.

The differences and similarities could be gone on about for years and years, pages and pages. What it comes down to, I think, is this: Religion bases many things on simple assumption, such as creation, and reasons for existence. Science tries to make the best possible conclusion, given the information we have. It all comes down to belief though. Religion's assumptions become fact to a person if there is the belief, or "faith".

Differences are, science don't believe in God and wants proof; religion doesn't require proof, although it's kinda messed up.

Similarities are, BOTH science and religion are partially wrong.

Neither one fully know enough of the truth of one an others foundation.

Science is fact that God is who he is, God is the one who lines up everything that science thinks is science.

Religion of so many kinds, it's main cause is Greed to do with the coin, confusion and causes anger-war.

Answer and proof, what science and religion can't come up with..... it's a individual personal spiritual relationship with God -Jesus..... the proof and answer is in the understanding individual.

Peace!

One big difference between science and religion, that is facts based on scientific research. Religion is not a fact even you can start a religion or your own and if you get enough following, there maybe a "bible" written centuries from now glorifying you as their god.

I'll go with the similiarities because the differences are more apparent.

People turn to both (well, one at a time usually) for answers.

Both are concerned with the workings of the world.

They both explain how we came to be, and when we came to be. But religion teaches us how to live our lives while science teachings, while very important, are of no moral value.
