I adopted a 7 week old kitten and she loves to eat her kitty litter. I have tried changing types but she still eats it. Will this stop her from going to the toilet in there ( which she doesnt do yet) ????

It may be nothing, just a weird kitten behavior that she may grow out of, but I do want to mention (and I do not mean to alarm you) some cats start eating cat litter when they are anemic. Anemia in cats is a bad sign and unfortunately it is just a symptom of some type of illness. I suggest taking her to the vet and getting her checked out (a complete blood test is about $80) or you could just ask for PCV (Packed Cell Volume Test). Regular PCV results should be in the 40's.
Since she likes to eat cat litter I suggest switching to a natural brand like "World's Best Cat Litter". Regular, clumpable cat litter (when eaten) will expend in the cat's digestive track and may cause serious injury or disease.
It also couuld be that your cat is not getting the proper nutrition - again mainstream pet food is full of toxic garbage. I suggest switching to pet food brands like Innova Evo, Merrick's, PetGuard Organics.
One of my 5 cats is anemic and I got this great vet that educated me about all the chemicals/toxins in pet food. The vet also wrote a book "Nature of Animal healing" I highly recommend it - the pet food list mentioned in the book is now outdated becaue the new cat food recomendation is to feed cats high protein/no-grain diet (see brands I listed above). Also choose three brands and several different flavors & rotate them. Humans do not eat the same food every single meal and cats should not either.

It sounds like she may be lacking in a vitamin. Get her some really decent kitten food, not the cheapest, Maybe a bag of one and mix with anothe kind. Then buy a bottle of vitamins, has she been wormed? This will cause them to do all sorts of stuff and make them sich=k and tshe could die. Call the vet ans ask if you can pick up a worm pill for your kitten. It's vital. All puppies and kittens are born with worms and they need to be wormed every 6-8 wks. to stop re infestation. Do this ASAP. Then get the vitamims in her. you could feed her scrambled eggs. No milk though it gives them diarrhea, a little canned foor might be ok for a week or two, one time a day and then keep her on dry food, better for their teeth, make sure it is nutritious and not the cheapest out there. Look at the ingredients, vitamins and minerals before you buy, compare the brands. good luck.

Yes, if its clay litter it can do some serious harm to your cat's digestive system. Remove the litter from the box at once and try either shredded newspaper (cheap and efficient but will need replacing DAILY) or you can try a brand called Yesterdays News. This is made from recycled newspapers and is in a pellet form. I really doubt the kitten will try to eat that. In the meantime, try Tender Vittles instead of dry cat food. It may be that the dry chunks are too hard for his young teeth.

Amy R,
Baby kittens are for most part kind a dumb, they are just like humans when they are first born, they really don't know better. The kitten will get over it when it learns that cat litter is not food. After the cat figures out that cat litter is not food, it will follow it's natural instincts and use the litter for what it's suppose to be used for.

Ive been through many litters of kittens and they all do that.
They will eventually stop. Nothing that I know of that you can do to stop them.
