It seems to me often to be the preferred weapon of the most ignorant and close minded. Would you agree?

it often confuses the questioner when seeking for honest answers
if people who knew an answer to be true gave a thumbs up to help the asker find what they need ... then that would be great
if people who dont know the answer just left their little button alone .. it would help emensly

The thumbs up/down Voting System is good only if the voters will read and think about the answers or questions if really good.

Thumbs down is a bad concept if the guy asking the question gave the answerer a thumbs down only because of the fact they did not decide to hearken to that particular suggestion. Its infantile and unhappy.

I think it's ok. If it were linked to points, that could seriously skew what people would say. As of now, I don't think it influences them too much. And if it does, grow a mind people.
