Why did the disciples, who were in a unique position to know whether the resurrection happened, die proclaiming it was true? No one willingly dies for a lie!! And secondly, why would such skeptics as Paul and James be converted and die for their faith if there was no good reason?

Nobody is willing to die horrible, painful deaths like the disciples did for a lie. The only reason for lying about it would have been to get rich, which they didn't, to get famous, which they didn't until after they were dead anyway, because we humans are pretty selfish. Since they didn't actually get anything out of the resurrection story except a lot of pain, torture and death, there would have been no point at all in lying about it, hence it wasn't a lie.

To quot you "No one willingly dies for a lie!!" This phase is an assumption. Many men have gone to their graves with secrets. Take Hitler he did not say anything bad about his cause and the many followers that believed in his cause is a prime example of how some people at the right moment can inflect so much mind control. I'm not saying that's what happened in this case, but merely pointing out that circumstances, like this one was at a point that the people needed something to believe and that can cause people to actually believe things they would not normally believe and would never say it was a lie and would be willing to go to the grave in what they believe.

if no one willingly dies for a lie then the same can be said of many people outwith Christianity who have died for what they believe ...
this is in no way saying that the ressurection was a hoax or that anyone is lying
just to point out that by your way of thinking then people such as Helen Duncan who died for spiritualism was also telling the truth
and many more people of different faiths

If it were real then why would it be written about 40 years later? why were there no public records or any records of the jesus stories? how do you do all that and only end up with something as bad as the bible?
I'm saying the disciples dying was a hoax too, a story, that's all

my thoughts exactly!!!! In fact, one very prominent Jewish Rabbi after Jesus' death once dissmissed the apostles (who were being charged with blasphemy) saying that if their religion was truly from God, it would last, but if it was man-made, it would not. (Because nothing man-made lasts forever)
