If you're not in a flood plain of any rivers or creeks in the area you should be fine. Talk to the neighbors when you find a house you're interested in. Prepare for hot summers.

It is possible. The Feather River is to the east of YC. If the levees fail, it will flood the eastern side of YC almost immediately. The home owners in that area (Garden Highway and nearby) are required to have flood insurance.

In addition, the Oroville Dam can cause major flooding in YC even though it's over 40 miles away. We were actually under mandatory evacuation orders a few weeks ago due to the possibility of the dam's emergency spillway possibly failing. Luckily it didn't happen, but it still pretty scary to think about it.

And yes, Carole is right. The summers here are insane. It's common for a lot of summer days to be in the high 90s,to 105.
