I do not want to spend lots of money on a home subwoofer, unless someone knows a place to get cheap subwoofers?

I wouldn't fool with all that mess.
There are a couple places that sell good
inexpensive powered subwoofers.

You can also surf the web and browse
different product comparison websites for the
lowest price on powered subwoofers.

Why not just buy a home stereo subwoofer that has an amp already built in? You want to lug stuff back and forth between the car and house all the time??

yes you can, you'll just need a 12v dc power supply with the right current rating. check the current requirements of you amp, it should be printed right on it.
