Get off any exit, head north until you intersect Market Street. Take Market all the way to Tate. Tate to Lee. Lee to 40. You'll avoid all the traffic (it was a flying couch with accident at the High Point Road exit, coincidentally one of the main roads that lead into High Point, Furniture Capital of the World).

Take US 421 south to Exit 171, then
US 64 east, continue around Pittsboro and on into Raleigh

get on 54 near burlington, it will take you to chapel hill, and you can navigate the rest of the way from there.
