I had mine on for only a year and a half but my sister had her on for 5 years. It really varies according to your teeth.
But they will look so gorgeous when the braces come off!!! I was voted Best smile my senior year all thanks to my orthodontist!!

It depends on your teeth and how crooked or buck they are. When I was a teen I had braces on for 4 years. (I got the top set of braces off just in time for my senior prom.) But I had severely buck top teeth. I know others that only had them on for 2 years. And I know others that had them on for 5 years. So, it can vary from person to person.
Braces, while they may seem ugly and feel uncomfortable and awkward at first, are also pretty common among teens. Eventually, you'll practically forget they are there. And think of how beautiful your smile will be when they do come off. They are totally worth it!
In the meantime, live it up. What I mean is, when it comes time for you to get those rubberbands around the braces, you have colors to choose from. You could go girly and choose all bright pink, you could go wild and pick rainbow colors, you could go goth and pick black...or go subtle and choose clear. It's up to you. Stylize your braces and make the best of it, since you are stuck with them. It's all in how you want to work it. ;)

First you nor the braces are ugly. It just a rite of passage of teen years. You'll be thanking ur parents that they could afford to put them on your teeth. It just depends what is wrong with your teeth and/or your bite. My kids have wore them. My son also wore a head gear at night cause he wanted faster results and had major changes needed in his mouth.
You'll get some decisions on the colors of braces and bands. Which can make it less eye sore. From wild colors to neon's... besides if your orthodontist is cute to look at it makes it easier for the girls.

It depends, I had them on for 1 year but my older sister had braces twice, for two years each time. My little sister has braces now and will probably have them on for about a year and a half. it also depends on if you wear your rubber bands when you are supposed to and stuff and braces aren't ugly, they're just different, you'll get used to them and so will everybody else and just imagine how good your smile will look when you get your braces off and your teeth are straight.

I am very sorry for your unfortunate braces
If your 14 I really dont know how long there suppose to stay on but im 13 and 13 is about 1 less than 14. 14-13=1. So I think your usually suppose to have them on for about 2 years. But um Im kinda stupid so I wouldnt trust me if i were you.

My teenager had braces on for three years. My braces were on for 20 months. Treatment is different for everyone. Braces are cute! You'll feel better in a few days.

It really depends on how "bad' your teeth are. If you do everything that the orthodontists tells you then you can probably get them off quicker. You should also brush 2-3 times a day to avoid discoloration once they come off. When I had my braces the orthodontist told me that everyday missed is like missing three of them. You will get use to your braces after awhile. And believe it or not once you get them off you will feel weird without them.

my oldest daughter had hers for about a year, and then she had to wear a retainer for a year after that. my youngest has had hers for 5 years and still counting. this is extreme though because her jaw itself was messed up, and if she did not get braces they would have to break her jaw and reset it in the proper place. now we are waiting for 1 of her back teeth to come in until she can have them taken off. after that she will have to wear a retainer. so basically it depends on your teeth and how well they react to the braces. just make sure you go to your appointments and ask questions. don't eat sticky foods or do anything to destruct them. this is only going to make you have to wear them longer. good luck.

generally its one to two years it all depends on how severe the case is. plus you will have to wear a retainer after you get them removed and make sure you wear the retainer orthodontists aren't joking when they say if you don't wear it you're teeth will move back. It happened to my boyfriend when he was 15 he got braces and when they came off he didn't wear his retainer all the time and his gap came back. no matter what you do if you're sick, tired, always make sure you brush and floss three times a day and get your cleanings or you will more than likely end up with cavities and possibly periodontal disease ....not fun!
