Are there ways to change the color of a tattoo?

I was just curious as to whether or not it was possible to change the color of a dark tattoo without having to get it removed first. I'm almost sure it's impossible but just wanted to hear other's opinions.

Well the colors I have now are blue/turquoise. I just recently got it but it looks like it's fading already =(. I wanted to change it to a lighter color but I'm pretty sure that's out of the question.

You can always darken, but not lighten it. if it has faded, you can add a darker color to it and it should be OK.

i think you said it was a faded turquoise color, try purple or a darker blue, those colors should be OK

you said you recently got it done, go back to the tattoo artist, they should recolor it for free.

I had a tattoo in the color of red and black...the red completely faded, but the black is still on there strong. I'm not sure if they didn't go deep enough in the red or what?? ( it was also my first tattoo) what color are you wanting to change? I think all depends on what the color is.

it sounds like if the tattoo is already looking bad and it's new that you didn't go to a great tatooer. you can always cover it up with something bigger but you probably really can't lighten it up much, if at all. good luck. next time you get a tattoo... if there is a next time please do research on an artist. look at their portfolio. don't just trust anybody with a tattoo gun.

My friend, Keith, lightened my dark tat with white and went from there. The more you have a tattoo gone over the worse it hurts the next time around

yes it is possible. i had friends with faded tatooes and they had them redone and filled in with another color...if you wanna change the color, wait for the pgmentation to lighten.
