He will likely recover, fine, if you got him in before his condition became severe.

I had a dog that had pancreatitis and no it isn't contagious; however, it usually is chronic meaning he will have this for his life. My dog lived to be 15 after being diagnosed at about age 6. It took a little bit of experimenting until we found the exact right diet for her. Generally LOW FAT. Anything (and I mean anything) would cause my dog to have an "attack" of pancreatitis...even if I dropped a french fry or potato chip and she got it.
You have to be very vigilent.
My girl was finally put down because of congestive heart failure which is old age problem. The morning of - I bought her a hamburger since it had been so long since she had been allowed "bad" food. :-)

If the dog in young and healthy it has a good chance. My dog was old so it was a different situation. It is a good thing you got it to the vet. Vets aren't usually quick to be optimistic if there isn't a good chance. Good luck. I hope you get good news on Wednesday!

No it is not contageous. It can be very serious and a dog can die from it although if caught and treated in time they usually recover. It can take a long time to recover fully from it though.
It is an inflamation of the pancreas usually caused by fatty foods.

Pancreatitis is a very serious disease, but can be cured if caught and treated early. I hope your dog will be okay. No it is not contagious. It is an infection of the pancreas.

I hope he'll be ok. Pancreatitis is not contagious. Sometimes it's caused by a fatty diet, sometimes it happens for no apparent reason.
